You Have Questions, We Have Answers!
Q: Do I need all of these services to have a healthy lawn?
A: Not necessarily. Our Basic Lawn Care Program covers the essentials for most lawns. Additional services like tick control, grub prevention, and aeration help solve specific problems or enhance your lawn’s overall health. We’re happy to help you choose what’s right for your property and goals.
Q: Are your treatments safe for kids and pets?
A: Yes. Once the products are fully dry—usually within a few hours—it’s safe for people and pets to return to the lawn, however DEC regulations require that we post to keep off the lawn for 24 hours after treatment.
Q: What happens if it rains after a treatment?
A: In most cases, a light to moderate rain after a treatment is actually beneficial—it helps move the product into the soil where it’s needed. If we ever feel a treatment is at risk of being washed away or compromised, we will reschedule the treatment.
Q: How do I know if I have grubs, fungus, or Nutsedge?
We look for signs during our regular visits, but if you notice unusual lawn discoloration, thinning patches, soft or spongey turf, or rapid weed growth between visits, give us a call. Early detection is key, and we’ll let you know if treatment is necessary.
Q: What’s included in the Basic Lawn Care Program?
A: The program includes four fertilizer applications throughout the season. The first two visits also include broadleaf weed control and crabgrass prevention. The final two focus on lawn health and spot-spraying any weeds, if needed.
Q: Is tick treatment necessary if I don’t see any ticks?
A: Ticks are often present long before you see them. Our prevention program targets them at key points in their life cycle—spring and fall—so we can stop them before they become active and reduce the chance of them becoming a problem.
Q: When is the best time to aerate and overseed?
A: Fall is the ideal time. Cooler temperatures and consistent moisture give new grass the best chance to take root, and aeration helps improve seed-to-soil contact for better germination.
Q: Can I mow or water after a treatment?
A: You can usually resume mowing or watering the day after a treatment, however, clippings should not be bagged until after the first good soaking rain.
Q: How does billing work?
A: You will automatically be emailed an invoice after each application is performed.
Q: How do I pay my invoice?
A: There are several ways to pay your invoice. You can pay online with a credit card, or leave a card on file to be automatically charged when services are completed. You can Venmo your invoice balance to @Bedetti-Lawns, or you can mail a check to us.
Q: Why did I receive a monthly statement when I paid my invoice?
A: Our system automatically sends monthly statements to any customer with a balance on their account. If you paid by Venmo or check, it can sometimes take a while to process. If it has been a while since you sent payment and received a statement you should reach out to us and verify we received the payment.
Q: Why should I use Bedetti’s instead of the big chain companies?
A: The big chain companies only see you and your lawn as a number. They apply spray fertilizer in the rain, over leaves, in the wind. They will try to upsell you on programs you don’t need and don’t care what your lawn looks like. At Bedetti’s, if we feel that an application will be affected by wind, rain, or other obstructions, we will reschedule. Our goal is to make your lawn look amazing and keep you happy.
Q: Why is Bedetti’s more expensive than the larger companies?
A: Our customer service is top-notch so this program is for people who are truly interested in the health, condition, and look of their lawn. It is a huge investment after all! We create the best product for the price you pay, but we are not the cheapest.
Q: Why should I use Bedetti’s instead of fertilizing myself?
A: We use agricultural grade fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides that require a state license to purchase and apply. Homeowner-grade lawn treatments are good, but won’t provide the results that we do.
Q: I’ve signed the contract. When will you start?
A: If this is a new season, DEC doesn’t allow us to begin to treat lawns until April 1st. If you’ve signed up mid-season, we will get to your lawn when service your area for the next applicable application.
Q: Why do I have to sign an estimate/contract?
A: DEC requires us to have a contract signed by a property owner or their agent permitting us to treat the lawn.
Q: Do you use organic fertilizers?
Although the fertilizers we use are agricultural grade, they are not considered “organic” (such as manures, compost, bone meal, or those that are derived directly from plant or animal sources). We do not currently use organic fertilizers. Instead, our fertilizers go through a manufacturing process that start with naturally occurring mineral deposits and/or nitrogen in the atmosphere.
